Note from the Author
You have visited this site because you are curious to know a little bit more about Nigeria. “I am a Nigerian, Not a Terrorist” is a book that will begin your journey into the past, present and future progress of a great nation called Nigeria.
This section will be updated periodically to communicate with friends and family who will be going on this journey with me.
I can’t believe how fast 2012 is running. It has been a very eventful year already, all over the world and we can’t forget current events in Nigeria. Let’s not forget that I am a Nigerian, Not a Terrorist is not to say that I am a Terrorism expert or against a certain sect of people but to avoid all negative distractions, exposing our rich culture and rich human resources. The message of this book, which includes ideas for moving Nigeria forward with the growth and development needed to serve the people, is needed now more than ever. Let’s all continue to pray for peace and progress.
2011 was a very exciting year with my book I am a Nigerian, Not a Terrorist as mentioned, I was featured in the July (pg 8) and August (page 18) editions of the AfricaAgribusiness magazine http://www.africaagribusinessmagazine.com . I have had so much fun and it has been a blessing meeting different people of all ages and backgrounds and I look forward to meeting more. Speaking of fun, My book signing on Nigeria's 51st Independence Day at the Historic Springfield, Illinois of the 16th US President Abraham Lincoln was featured in the 2012 February edition of the AfricaAgribusiness (pg 11) so please check it out via the website above.
I am starting my 2012 Journey at the “Big Apple” – New York. I will be a guest speaker at the Finale of the International Women’s Day celebration with the United Nations on March 9th and will be speaking on the "Socio-cultural implications on the Nigerian Girl child and her future" at the event. The event which takes place during the International Women’s Day Program and the 56th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will flag-off the Campaign “Nigerian Girl- Child Agenda” as well as Conference –Panel discussion on the Theme: “Connecting Girls Inspiring Future: The Nigerian Girl-Child and the Future”.
The March 9 event at the United Nations will include experts in women and girl- child, NGOs, Professionals, Social workers, African women Groups, IPAS, Planned Parenthood Federation, UNICEF, UNESCO, International Organization, College women centers, NGOS and NGO Committees and women associations, organizations and groups and all those involved in women/girls research and studies as participants are expected to raise their voices against girl-child abuse, save them from the streets into schools, educate, empower them and build a global nation, support the UN Millennium Goals and give the less privileged Nigerian Girl-child a future. I hope those that believe in this endeavor will raise their hands to contribute to the cause by contacting the UN Rep championing this cause, Dr. Ada Okika-ireneekute@yahoo.com
I am not sure where the next stop is in the journey after New York, but keep checking the schedule on this website or following me via twitter or facebook and we might find ourselves next in Texas, Detroit, Ohio or even in Nigeria. Continue to follow me via twitter @toyinayeni to be part of the conversations about Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Thanks again for making 2011 a great year and for all your support at the various events…Read more |
